Commitment and Withdrawals
Music education is developmental in its approach, learning a new language through reading and playing. Staying in class has long-term benefits, but we also know that life is life.
Commitment for Mini Units is the full 4 weeks. Should you miss a week, you will be invited to make up your class in one of our regularly scheduled classes later in the afternoon.
Commitment during the school year is per semester in order to maintain consistent learning groups and progress.
Curriculum
Each class follows a consistent, engaging flow that keeps students focused while having fun:
🎶 Connection Time
We begin each class with a high-energy group activity — like a drum circle, rhythm game, or singing exercise — to bring everyone together and get our “rhythm and harmony” in sync.
🎼 Music Theory Foundations
Students learn essential music skills that apply to all instruments:
- Rhythm and timing
- Note reading and notation
- Musical symbols and vocabulary
- Listening and ear training
🎹 Instrument Learning
Students break into small groups based on age, with a variety of instruments taught — focusing on a few each semester:
- Piano
- Ukulele
- Ensemble playing
- Singing
Our focus is on making music as a group, building both skill and confidence in a low-pressure setting.
🌟 Sharing & Wrap-Up
We end each class by coming back together to share, perform, and celebrate what we’ve learned.
Each student is provided with a comprehensive music binder that is built upon each week. Piano students participate in the Keynotes piano program, which includes structured weekly assignments and access to online review videos. Students also receive instrument-specific repertoire and theory materials to support their overall musical development.
